The New South Wales Government has announced the completion of the $15 million upgrade to the Morpeth wastewater facility, which has significantly improved system improvement.

“The major upgrade has been undertaken to provide additional capacity to the system so it can manage the needs of the population it serves in the Hunter,” State Minister for Finance and Services Greg Pearce said.

“The design of the upgrade has taken into account potential capacity for major industrial developments to support commercial growth in the region as well as ensure better services are provided to residents in the Hunter.”

“The current works, which form stage 2 of the upgrade, involved the upgrade of five pump stations.

“Stage 3 of the upgrade, expected to commence in early 2013, will involve the upgrade of another nine pump stations in the area to further improve system capacity and performance,” Mr Pearce said.
