Assist with the maintenance and operation of water treatment and catchment assets to provide high quality drinking water to the residents of the Shire.

We are seeking a technical specialist to assist in the maintenance and operation of Council’s water treatment and catchment assets including Bray Park, Uki and Tyalgum Water Treatment Plants; Clarrie Hall Dam; and Bray Park and Tyalgum Weirs.   The ideal applicant  will  hold a Certificate III in Water Operations – Water Treatment.

Work as part of a team responsible for the operation of at least one Facility and supervise up to 3 employees plus contractors.

We are seeking demonstrated:   

• Certificate III in Water Operations or ability and desire to complete this certification.
• Knowledge in the operation of Water Treatment Plants, Reticulation Systems, and Water Treatment Plant processes.
• Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety and Environmental legislative requirements relating to water treatment plants and dams, including NSW Department of Health and Australian Drinking Water Guidelines.
• Ability to effectively communicate technical information to supervisors, staff and members of the public.
• Ability to work without close supervision.
• Ability to undertake rostered overtime on a rotational basis, to provide weekend and after hours operational services to ensure the continued efficient operation of the water supply.

This position is currently based in Bray Park, Murwillumbah, and can be directed to work from any Council work site.
