Floodplain and River Health Projects Officer


The Goulburn Broken CMA is excited to offer an opportunity to join our successful, friendly organisation and to develop your career working alongside our professional Floodplain Management and River Health teams.

We are encouraging applications from people with a Natural Resource Management passion to assist the Goulburn Broken CMA to achieve its floodplain management goals and statutory obligations, and develop this knowledge to provide support and input into the integration of broader river health strategies.

The position primarily facilitates regional land use planning to reduce flood risk and damages including input into planning schemes, responding to planning referrals, providing flood advice and helping resolve planning issues. This role will allow you to continue to develop your skills and knowledge in flood mitigation through research, flood studies, field assessments, project work and community consultation with the support of a knowledgeable and established team.

The successful applicant will hold a tertiary qualification in Civil or Environmental Engineering and be able to demonstrate some knowledge of contemporary floodplain and river health management practises including relevant policy, guidelines and strategies. This will be coupled with previous experience in project management and confidence in working with stakeholders to discuss and negotiate complex issues to achieve positive outcomes.
