Cairns Regional Council plays a fundamental role in planning and providing for the Cairns community. Servicing a population of over 150,000 across an area of nearly 1700km2 from Bramston Beach to Palm Cove, we deliver more than 400 services and functions. Manager Operations (Water & Waste)

Reporting to the General Manager, this is a key position within our Water and Waste Department and is responsible for managing the distribution and processing of Council’s essential water and wastewater services, ensuring compliance with relevant statutory requirements.

The incumbent will provide leadership to peers and subordinates and make recommendations to the General Manager regarding the operational management of Council’s water and wastewater assets including wastewater treatment plants and outfalls; wastewater pumping stations and licensed overflows; reticulation systems of potable water, recycled water and wastewater; water treatment plants, intakes and Copperlode dam.

To be successful in the role you will have extensive management and operational experience in the water and wastewater industry of medium to large organisations. Demonstrated commitment to and practice of a participative leadership style and proven ability to sustain self and others through change processes in an environment of continuous improvement. You will have superior communication and negotiation skills, including demonstrated ability to establish and maintain working relationships and a proven ability to promote and support the achievement of a customer-focused organisation.
