Senior Sustainable Environment Officer

The Senior Sustainable Environment Officer position provides an excellent opportunity for influencing and improving Hume City Council's environmental performance and contributing to a more sustainable Hume City.

The successful applicant will develop and implement strategies and plans and develop and manage successful projects across a broad range of issues including: integrated water management, climate adaptation, environmental procurement and environmentally sustainable design in Council's new facilities.

Hume's Sustainable Environment Department is a strong team working to create a more sustainable City. The position will work across Council and will engage with a range of external stakeholders. Hume is diverse, both culturally and in terms of land use - with over 198,000 residents, a strong industrial sector and rural areas.

Key Skills:

  • Demonstrated ability to develop, coordinate, implement and evaluate environmental strategies, policies and guidelines, with experience in integrated water management strategy development highly desirable.
  • Demonstrated high level skills in project and environmental management including integrated water management and preferably including environmentally sustainable design and development, environmentally preferable procurement and/or climate change adaptation.
  • Demonstrated ability to gain cooperation and assistance from colleagues and external stakeholders and to influence organisational work processes and behaviours
