Located in the sub-tropical Northern Rivers region of NSW, Rous County Council is a special-purpose local government organisation that delivers bulk water, provides flood mitigation and weed biosecurity services.

The position

The position of Strategic Planning Engineer is responsible for the development, implementation and review of Council’s strategic water and flood planning documents including the Future Water Strategy (FWS), demand forecasting, secure yield planning and distribution modelling.

Qualifications and experience

The position requires a bachelor degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent tertiary qualifications together with demonstrated relevant experience in strategic infrastructure planning and management in a government context.

Demonstrated experience in asset management, capital programming and the preparation of project briefs is essential for this role.

The successful applicant will have experience in the use of computerised hydrological and hydraulicmodelling software for water supply planning and flood modelling along with experience in the development, implementation and review of floodplain risk management studies and plans.

Conditions of employment

Conditions of employment are in accordance with the Local Government State Award 2017. Salary range $92,575 - $108,290 per annum based on skills and experience plus 3.5% civil liability allowance, 9.5% superannuation and generous working conditions including a 70 hour, nine-day fortnight. A satisfactory health assessment, including drug screening and a criminal background check is a pre-requisite to an offer of employment.
