WATER OPERATOR - METERING

(Permanent full time)

Located in the northern rivers area of NSW, Rous County Council is a special-purpose local government organisation that delivers bulk water and provides flood mitigation and weed biosecurity services.

The position

To ensure accurate and timely reading of water meters in accordance with meter reading schedules and delivery of water meter replacement program. To undertake the operation and maintenance of Council’s distribution and reticulation assets to achieve Council’s levels of service, including compliance with Council’s Drinking Water Management System.

Qualifications and experience

This position requires a Certificate III in Water Operations or willingness and ability to complete together with demonstrated experience in a labouring role with a good knowledge of water industry operations.

The ability to work with or without supervision to achieve targets and assess and manage competing priorities while performing physical duties is essential for this role

The successful application will demonstrate their experience dealing with customers or external stakeholders, supervising contractors and working with a team of people.

This position will require the successful candidate to relieve in the fortnightly on-call roster for afterhours duties.

Conditions of employment

Conditions of employment are in accordance with the Local Government State Award 2017. Salary range $57,298 - $67,028 per annum based on skills and experience plus statutory superannuation (9.5%) and generous working conditions including a 76 hour, nine-day fortnight. A satisfactory health assessment, including drug screening is a pre-requisite to an offer of employment.
