Waste Water Operator 

Maxima has been engaged to recruit for a Waste Water Operator for a Local Council located in the Adelaide Hills. This is a casual position with FT hours, Monday - Friday with some on- call after hours work.

Assisting in the ongoing control, operation and maintenance of the Wastewater Systems you will be required to undertake the following tasks:

  • Undertake the day to day maintenance and operations including, but not limited to
  • Sludge management
  • Repair and replace mechanical valves and actuators
  • Routine weekly and monthly sampling
  • Maintain the operational integrity of the plant and equipment
  • Record all relevant data
  • Undertake daily system monitoring, attending to alarms and rectifying any faults
  • Work with other team members to ensure the WWTP is operated within the EPA and Department of Health licenses and approvals
  • Liaise with contractors
  • Ensure full compliance is followed
  • Perform duties of other staff in equal or lower classifications as directed

To be successful in this role, you must be able to show you have the following skills and knowledge:

  • Knowledge of plumbing, electrical and mechanical issues associated with wastewater systems
  • Knowledge of septic tank effluent disposal
  • Understanding of the Environment Protection Act
  • High level customer service skills
  • Ability to work independently and effectively as part of a team
  • Ability to effectively prioritise
  • Knowledge of MS Office software and able to operate remote access software to monitor the Councils wastewater system

About you:

  • Current driver's license and own reliable vehicle
  • Flexibility to be on- call after hours as required
  • Current National Police Clearance or happy to obtain
  • Certificate 3 in Water Operations is highly regarded
  • Experience working as part of a team
  • Experience in chlorine gas handling highly regarded
