An exciting opportunity exists to join our Engineering Team, as the Design Engineer (Water and Sewer).

Reporting to the Strategic Design and Planning Engineer, you will be responsible for providing expert engineering technical know-how in the investigation, options development, design and delivery of Council’s water and sewerage infrastructure projects, including liaison with external and internal agents.

In this newly created position you will put your extensive experience to good use as you assist with the development, design and delivery of long term water and sewerage strategies and projects, including the investigation, planning and design of water and sewerage infrastructure works and the provision of strategic advice on engineering computations, estimates and contract specifications.

You will also be responsible for the approval of water and sewerage engineering plans for developments, the project management of renewal, upgrade and expansion works and the management of design consultants.

Being a newly created position this is an exciting opportunity for someone to make their mark and take a leading role in the ongoing development and delivery of Council's water and sewer strategies, plans and projects.

Skills/Experience

To be successful in this role we need:

  • Someone with extensive work experience in civil engineering, preferably in water & sewer design, at both a strategic and operational level;
  • With experience using CAD design packages, preferably experience in 12D, AutoCad and DRAINs;
  • With experience using hydraulic modelling software, preferably with experience in InfoWorks WS and InfoWorks ICM;
  • With demonstrated knowledge of the WASA guidelines and regulations pertaining to the Water and Sewerage Industry;
  • With the ability to work independently, as well as the capability to organise and prioritise work to meet deadlines;

You also need to have Tertiary qualifications in Civil Engineering or an associated discipline, a current Class C driver’s licence and a General Construction Induction Card (White Card).
