Monash Water Sensitive Cities (MWSC) sits within our Monash Sustainable Development Institute (MSDI) and uses inter-disciplinary research to address challenges for urban water management and its links to the liveability and resilience of cities. This research focus spans integrated urban water management and water sensitive urban design, urban water governance, urban climatology as well as environmental and public health protection.

In this opportunity, you will be responsible for conducting or overseeing original research in your area of expertise that relates to water sensitive cities, as well as engage in interdisciplinary research projects in collaboration with key Monash researchers located across a number of Monash faculties. You will synthesise research outputs and translate them into products, tools and frameworks for practical application across water and land management sectors as well as contribute to, or individually prepare, articles and publications that profile the work, expertise and outputs of MWSC nationally and internationally.
In addition to this research focus, you will also initiate, develop and deliver lectures, seminars, executive education and workshops within your discipline, furthering the educational aims of the MSDI .
PhD qualified in a relevant area, your expertise and passion for sustainable development and urban water management will be highly regarded in this appointment, whilst your track record of academic achievement will ensure your capability to deliver effectively against the planned goals and outcome of this position. Your prior engagement with industry, government and professional bodies will enable you to develop strong linkages across sectors, enabling you to advocate, drive policy and encourage the adoption of new knowledge arising from yours and others research. Your strengths in teaching and mentoring students will further enhance your success in this appointment.
