Senior Engineer Surface Water Assessment


An exciting opportunity is now available for an experienced motivated, enthusiastic and highly organised Senior Engineer Surface Water Assessment to join the Department of Land Resource Management’s Water Resources Division.

The Senior Engineer Surface Water Assessment position, as part of the Surface Water Assessment group, assess the Northern Territory’s surface water resources for general water resources assessment/management under the NT Water Act to ensure that natural resource development proposals can be effectively evaluated. The position also engages in the provision of flood risk management (flood studies, flood maps, flood forecasting etc.).

The successful applicant will possess the following essential criteria. 

Degree in Civil Engineering; Applied Sciences or similar relevant Tertiary qualifications. Experience in the development and/or use of hydrological/hydraulic models. Proven professional experience in surface water resource assessment and experience in the management of complex water resource investigations. Demonstrated ability to manage multi-disciplinary project teams. Demonstrated ability to communicate with landowners and interact with various organisational and community groups. Practical and current knowledge of equipment and technology related to the investigation of water resources especially surface water. Hold or have ability to obtain NT Drivers licence.
