Your opportunity

As the Water and Energy Efficiency Project Manager you will develop and implement programs and services that support horticultural farm businesses to improve their irrigation and water use efficiency and natural resource management. Your role involves a mix of on-farm visits and time in the office reviewing data and preparing information materials for growers. You will also collaborate with energy audit providers to help identify energy efficiency opportunities on-farm.  This role is also an opportunity to participate in both the delivery and development of Hort360 – the horticulture industry’s best practice program (www.growcom.com.au/hort360)

About you

To be successful in this role you should have a passion for working with sustainable and innovative rural industries. If you are practical and highly motivated with great data analysis and interpretation skills and an effective communicator this job could be for you. Your ability to demonstrate strong technical skills in irrigation system management and/or experience in agronomy and farm management is desirable with some hands on experience in the production horticulture industry knowledge a definite advantage. Experience in working with farm business owners, particularly in delivering on-farm services or professional development. A tertiary qualification in a relevant field (Ag Science, Ag Engineering, Horticulture, etc.) would be favourable but not essential.

A current C class manual driver’s licence is essential – with some travel involved in the position, including occasional nights away from home.

Mandatory requirements

  • Current C class drivers licence
  • Tertiary qualifications - Agricultural Science, Environmental Science, Agricultural Engineering, Horticulture, Bachelor of Engineering, Applied Science or equivalent demonstrated extensive experience.
  • Experience in Microsoft office products
