Make a positive difference to the Great Barrier Reef and Cane Farming in Queensland’s Wet Tropics 



Funded through the Australian Government’s Reef Trust Phase III, your job will be to deliver water quality, productivity and profitability  outcomes in the Wet Tropics cane industry. This is an exciting  opportunity to live in Queensland’s beautiful Wet Tropics and work in a great partnership team on one of Australia’s greatest challenges, to improve water quality entering the Great Barrier Reef.


You will be working with Wet Tropics cane farmers over the next three years to improve agricultural practice that leads to improved water quality. The recruitment process is for eleven positions who will be hosted by members of the Wet Tropics Sugar Industry Partnership in coastal locations from Mossman to Ingham. Part time arrangements will be considered for some roles and location will be negotiated as part of the recruitment process.

  • Extension Coordinator x 1
  • Regional Extension Officers x 2
  • District Extension Officers x 5
  • Innovation Extension Officer x 1
  • Science and Knowledge Coordinator – Water Quality x 1
  • Science and Knowledge Coordinator – Practices x 1
