In July 2015, the NSW Government announced the formation of DPI Water, as a Division within the Department of Industry, Primary Industries. This announcement signalled a new direction and transformation for water management in NSW. The formation of DPI Water followed various reviews of the former Office of Water’s functions and how the business can be better structured to manage water in NSW.

The objectives of the DPI Water Division are to create a contemporary government water agency focused on:

  • Planning and Policy
  • Regulation
  • Information and Insights; and
  • Program and Performance

 

As the Project Officer Community Regulation Education with NSW DPI Water, you will have the opportunity to develop evidence based, plain English education resources and programs to raise awareness, understanding and appreciation of voluntary compliance with water regulation in NSW.

Your day to day activities will be varied and will include planning, delivering and evaluating multiple priority education activities, developing and implementing targeted community education projects to promote a better understanding of water legislation and to increase the level of compliance and sustainable water use. You will also contribute to research to improve the effectiveness of education activities.

You will also employ your excellent communication and interpersonal skills to develop user-centric, accurate, plain English education and communication tools, including web resources, electronic updates, publications, displays and events. Furthermore you will have a focus on sharing and transferring skills and knowledge to staff and stakeholders to support effective communication with the community.
