In July 2015, the NSW Government announced the formation of DPI Water, as a Division within the Department of Industry, Primary Industries. This announcement signalled a new direction and transformation for water management in NSW. The formation of DPI Water followed various reviews of the former Office of Water’s functions and how the business can be better structured to manage water in NSW.

The objectives of the DPI Water Division are to create a contemporary government water agency focused on:

  • Planning and Policy
  • Regulation
  • Information and Insights; and
  • Program and Performance

 

As a Water Regulation Officer with NSW DPI Water you will have the opportunity to provide specialist information and advice to clients, staff and other community and government partners on access to water resources and general information regarding licence conditions and compliance.

Your day to day activities will be varied and will include preparing Ministerial and Executive correspondence relating to water licencing matters, investigating breaches of legislation, facilitate and negotiate between affected parties to resolve disputes and objections, preparing submissions on planning matters, as well assessing applications for access to water resources.

You also will employ your excellent communication and interpersonal skills as you liaise with key stakeholders and gather technical data from a variety of sources to effectively achieve agreed outcomes.
