In July 2015, the NSW Government announced the formation of DPI Water, as a Division within the Department of Industry, Primary Industries. This announcement signalled a new direction and transformation for water management in NSW. The formation of DPI Water followed various reviews of the former Office of Water’s functions and how the business can be better structured to manage water in NSW.

The objectives of the DPI Water Division are to create a contemporary government water agency focused on:

  • Planning and Policy
  • Regulation
  • Information and Insights; and
  • Program and Performance 

 

As a Senior Program Reporting Officer with NSW DPI Water, you will have the opportunity to provide coordinated governance for program and project reporting including risk management and coordinated procurement processes including capital expenditure and ensure alignment of DPI Water programs with the DPI Strategic Plan.

 

Your day to day activities will be varied and will include implementing the department’s corporate and business planning cycle in accordance with contemporary program management methodologies and consulting closely with managers and staff to develop and review program project plans to reflect Government reform agendas and priorities of the department.

 

This role is responsible for providing expert advice and support for managers to improve planning, reporting processes and articulate their service delivery performance measures to enhance accountability and manage risk. You will manage systems and processes to ensure the department meets its statutory reporting obligations on its performance.

 

You will employ your project management skills and experience in the management and evaluation of current programs and priorities for designated projects across DPI Water and evaluate potential performance improvements, including recommending appropriate improvements. This position manages the project and planning cycle, including developing project plans, identifying and coordinating resources, managing budgets and reporting requirements to ensure project outcomes are achieved on time, on budget, to quality standards and within agreed scope.

 

To be successful in this position, you must be able to demonstrate understanding and knowledge of the Government public administration processes, governance, protocols and reporting requirements.
