Our Water Branch is currently seeking a Principal Regional Water Strategist to join their Regional Water Strategies team.

As a Principal Regional Water Strategist you will provide strategic direction, expert advice and mentoring across our water strategy teams on multiple regional-scale water strategies that consider water security, supply reliability, policy, infrastructure and investment. You will also be responsible for liaising with government agencies, water service providers, utilities and community and industry stakeholders in a market sensitive environment to inform strategy outcomes and deliverables. This is a key role that ensures regional communities have a more secure, reliable, cost effective and sustainable water supply into the future.

About You
To be successful in this role, our ideal candidate will demonstrate:

  • Extensive experience and tertiary qualifications in a water related area such as strategic water planning, water management, water or environmental engineering, or natural resource management
  • Strong understanding and familiarity with water management practices in NSW
  • Excellent project management skills with proven experience in leading multiple complex initiatives and strategies
  • Political nous and the ability to exercise a high level of discretion and judgement
  • Excellent communication, analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work in a politically sensitive environment with challenging workloads and competing demands
  • Strong stakeholder management, negotiation and influencing skills with the ability to manage community expectations
  • An understanding of hydrological modelling standards and practices in NSW will be highly regarded
