Water Utilities Practice Lead – NSW & ACT
What You'll Do:
As our Water Utilities Practice Leader, you'll be at the forefront of technical excellence, innovation, people and client leadership, driving a culture where understanding and collaboration are the cornerstones of success, and championing wellbeing. The successful candidate will possess strong leadership abilities, a deep understanding of land and water issues, and a passion for fostering environmental sustainability. You will be comfortable developing and driving the strategic direction of the team, aligning it to client and market needs.
You'll inspire and empower a talented team of engineers, technical practitioners and modellers to push boundaries, leading with purpose to create solutions that meet client needs and deliver lasting value to communities.
This position is essential in driving client strategies and aligning team growth and development to these market needs.
In this role, you will:
- Build, mentor, and nurture a diverse, empowered team, developing capabilities that drive innovation and success.
- Ensure a high-performance culture by fostering collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
- Set performance objectives and conduct regular performance reviews.
- Develop and implement strategic plans for the Water Practice and Water Clients.
- Oversee a portfolio of client leaders to drive performance and client outcomes as well as establishing direction and focal areas for growth.
- Identify opportunities for growth and expansion of service offerings.
- Collaborate with senior management to define the vision and direction of the practice.
- Manage and govern the delivery of our project portfolio. Ensure that projects are executed seamlessly, aligning with Aurecon's standards and delivering value to our clients and communities.
- Partner with the Service Group Leader (SGL) to secure new revenue opportunities, grow market share, and capitalize on emerging opportunities.
- Maintain and build upon your strong client network to foster new business and enhance existing client relationships.
- Develop and manage the budget for the Land & Water Service Group.
- Monitor financial performance and implement strategies for profitability and cost-effectiveness.
- Lead the execution of Aurecon's Corporate Strategy, "The Blueprint," ensuring our vision is reflected in every project and initiative.

- Ensuring high standards in engineering operations, including quality, timeliness, and budget control.
- Demonstrating strong commercial acumen, and relationship-building skills.
- Driving business growth, securing new opportunities, and managing successful tenders and client relationships.
- A Bachelor’s degree or higher in Engineering or Project Management.
