Hydrographic Surveyor
We are looking for an experienced Hydrographic Surveyor to join our dynamic Hydrosurvey team based at our Outer Harbor Facility.

Role Overview
Reporting directly to the Survey Manager within Flinders Ports, the Hydrographic Surveyor is responsible for the provision of quality and timely surveying and technical services which includes coordination and maintenance of the Tidal networks in South Australia and liaison with the National Tidal Unit regarding predictions. As required, contribute to hydrographic, topographic, and engineering surveys and support services for management of spatial, aspatial and digital data.
Key Responsibilities
- Undertake hydrographic, topographic and engineering surveys, edit and process survey data as required. Undertake drafting of plans and other means of reporting of survey data as required.
- Undertake and coordinate the maintenance of the tide gauge/weather station network and the collection of tidal data.
- Accept, format and manage tide data going out to National Tidal Unit from tide gauges and predictions coming in from National Tidal Unit and supply relevant data to external stakeholders as required.
- Manage requests from external organisations and general public on issues relating to tides and requests for predicted or recorded data. Ensure integrity of information provided.
- Provide support services for management of spatial and aspatial digital data and assist in mobilisation of plant and equipment.
- Field work, intrastate travel and out of hours work is a requirement of the role.
- Operate a Vessel as Coxswain as required.
- Arrange diving activities as required.
About you
Your skills and experience will include;
- Associate Diploma in Surveying or equivalent in a relevant discipline (Level 2 Marine Surveyor)
- Tidal theory and practical field knowledge
- Eligible for registration as a Hydrographic Surveyor with the Geospatial Council of Australia.
- Current Drivers Licence.
- Demonstrated ability in effectively managing survey programs.
- Experience working on complex projects that require consultation, development of specification/reference documents, management of budgets and resources to deliver outcomes at an organisational or whole business unit level.
- Proficiency in the use of automatic recording surveying instruments and associated computer programs.
- Knowledge of procedures and standards for survey practice, particularly hydrographic, topographic and engineering surveys.
- Ability to conduct research, analyse data, test equipment, make recommendations.
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
Desirable
- Coxswain Certificate
- Member of the Geospatial Council of Australia as a Hydrographic Surveyor
- CAD and GIS experience.
- Knowledge and understanding of maritime operations.
