Icon Water requires a highly collaborative, analytically minded individual with a passion for problem solving to join our Network Branch as a Network Maintenance Engineer.

Using your strong technical engineering and analytical skills, you will drive Network Maintenance Engineering functions to deliver improved asset reliability leading to increased customer service. This includes accountability for asset management improvements across a diverse range of Icon Water network assets including Water and Sewer Networks, Dams, Reservoirs, Bulk Water Mains, Water and Sewage Pump Stations, Remote Treatment Plants, Sewage Storage Systems and Sewer Vent Systems.

We are an Equal Opportunity Employer, which values diversity and inclusion. We encourage applicants from all backgrounds, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders, people with disabilities, people from culturally diverse backgrounds and all ages. We also have a strong focus on gender balance within the organisation and encourage women to apply.

As a Network Maintenance Engineer, you will:

  • Proactively seek opportunities to enhance asset reliability levels and lead the development of asset management processes, systems and culture.
  • Develop and manage a portfolio of “asset level risks and problems” by engaging external panel resources, as well as solving problems to root cause and seeing actions through to completion.
  • Drive the application of techniques such as defect elimination, root cause analysis (RCA) and failure analysis.
  • Be a “Safety Champion” and seek opportunities to improve safety performance in everything you do.
  • Assist in development of safe work procedures to plan work in Icon Water’s Enterprise Asset Management System including risk assessments, isolation planning, identification and control of workplace hazards, contractor work performance, quality management, use of Personal Protective Equipment and adherence to incident notification procedures.
  • Work collaboratively with the Reliability Engineering & Maintenance Assurance team in routinely reviewing and improving the effectiveness of the programmes of work, optimising common asset maintenance strategies to meet cost, risk, and asset condition/performance targets.
  • Work collaboratively with the Reliability Engineering & Maintenance Assurance team to implement leading practice tools and techniques applying reliability centred maintenance (RCM) principles to determine end of life triggers for asset replacement, resolve reliability issues and application of consistent works management.
  • Foster a customer first culture in all aspects of network maintenance service delivery.
  • Lead investigations of breakdown events including those impacting customers, to ensure appropriate corrective works are identified and implemented.
  • Complete routine data analysis of unplanned asset failures. Use data driven decision making to drive the RCA programme, that is identify the “right” problems to solve to maximise business benefit e.g. address common defects or repeat failures, particularly for critical assets.
  • Lead the delivery of minor asset upgrades or engineering improvements across network assets.

Our ideal candidate will possess:

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications or trade/maintenance qualifications, such as an Engineering Degree.
  • Experience in an industrial, manufacturing or utility service delivery environment.
  • Demonstrated experience in preventative/predictive maintenance strategies, RCM and FMECA and their development.
  • Demonstrated experience of maintenance requirements and performance and condition assessments for network assets, particularly mechanical and electrical assets.
  • A working knowledge of ISO 55001 requirements.
  • Demonstrated experience in stakeholder engagement and management, including effective influencing and negotiating skills to achieve business outcomes.
  • Demonstrated experience in working collaboratively with others and operating in a commercial environment.
  • Demonstrated commitment to continuous improvement and writing management system documentation.
  • Knowledge of CMMS and integrity assurance systems.
