The Federal Government has announced $148 million in funding for collaborative research councils (CRCs), with the CRC for Water Sensitive Cities receiving $30 million to continue its research.

“These CRCs will research the major challenges facing Australia, as well as our big opportunities. Their collaborations will deliver important economic, environmental and social benefits. This is about improving the living standard of all Australians,” Minister for Innovation Senator Kim Carr said.

The CRC for Water Sensitive Cities will aim to deliver socio-technical urban water management solutions, education and training programs, and industry engagement required to make Australian towns and cities water sensitive.

The funding will allow the CRC to pursue its main goals, including:

  • research excellence,
  • engagement with planning, development and water management professions, and
  • supporting the development of government policies.
