The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission has accredited the Essential Services Commission (ESC) to regulate the prices of irrigation and bulk water delivery services provided by Goulburn-Murray Water and Lower Murray Water.

Goulburn-Murray Water and Lower Murray Water provide irrigation and bulk water delivery services in northern Victoria within the Murray Darling Basin.

The accreditation was carried out under the Water Charge (Infrastructure) Rules, which governs the price regulation of irrigation and bulk water suppliers operating in the Murray Darling Basin.

The ESC will apply the same rules and pricing principles as other government agencies responsible for price regulation of irrigation and bulk water suppliers in the Murray Darling Basin.

The period of accreditation for the ESC is ten years.
