Coliban Water has released its 50-year water security strategy, outlining water supply initiatives to meet the region’s residential, business and community urban water needs in the future.

Manager Raw Water Steve Healy said water corporations across the state formally review their Water Supply Demand Strategy every five years.

“We have 49 towns across nine different water supply areas and each area has its own Water Supply and Demand Strategy. These strategies outline measures to maintain a balance between customer demand and water availability.

“The review of this strategy is a key input into our future planning, including our next five year Waterplan,” said Mr Healy.

The draft Water Supply Demand Strategy is now available for comment.

“We are seeking feedback on the draft up to Monday 27 February. A final version of the strategy will be submitted to the Department of Sustainability and Environment at the end of March this year,” Mr Healy said.
