Water-deprived councils are being offered economic development grants.

Round 3 of the Murray–Darling Basin Economic Development Program is providing up to $34 million in grants to stimulate job growth and boost economic development in 38 eligible communities impacted by water recovery in the Murray–Darling Basin.

The grants are being offered to projects that increase the capacity of local communities to diversify and strengthen local economies, enhance their resilience, and increase opportunities for employment.

The projects must demonstrate they have community support and focus on benefits for the eligible community.

The Department of Agriculture, Water and the Environment has offered help to prospective applicants to assist with accessing the grant round.
