The Queensland Government has announced new funding for healthier waterways after the release of the 2012 Ecosystem Health Report Card earlier this year.

Environment and Heritage Protection Minister Andrew Powell said the Government had contributed $265,000 to SEQ Catchments as part of a $2 million investment in achieving the goals identified in 2012.

“The report card shows that improvements are being made in ecosystem health especially in Moreton Bay,” Mr Powell said.

“While this is good news, it also shows us that we still have some work to do, particularly in reducing the amount of mud entering waterways in the upper catchment.

“This funding will build on the good work that has already been undertaken by landholders and SEQ Catchments and the scientific research undertaken by the Australian Rivers Institute and Healthy Waterways Ltd in the Upper Warrill catchment.
