Spain’s Acciona Agua is part of the winning consortium to design, build and operate the Mundaring water treatment plant in Perth, WA.

The Helena Water consortium comprises Acciona Agua, United Utilities Australia, Brookfield Multiplex and Royal Bank of Scotland. This project is the first Public-private Partnership (PPP) water project of its kind in Western Australia and it will be the first project for Acciona in WA.

The Acciona group already has a strong presence in other Australian states. Also in the water arena, it has designed and will build and operate the Adelaide desalination plant.

Acciona Agua’s President, Luis Castilla said, "This contract is important for Acciona's development in Australia, where the group is also operating in renewable energy and infrastructure.

“The Mundaring water treatment plant in Perth and the Port Stanvac desalination plant in Adelaide are two important milestones for Acciona due to their importance and high profile.

“They also embody Acciona Agua's commitment to permanence in Australia, given that both concessions will last more than 30 years,” Mr Castillla said.
