The Murray-Darling Basin Authority (MDBA) has announced the full 11 member second Basin Community Committee.

The Committee will formally start their roles at the beginning of July, which will see them advocate community interests to the Murray-Darling Basin Authority on Basin-related matters.

MDBA Chair, Craig Knowles, thanked the first Committee for their crucial role within the development of the Basin Plan.

"I'd like to thank the previous members of the BCC for their advice and feedback during the development of the Basin Plan, as well as the assistance they provided during the consultation period," Mr Knowles said.

"I would especially like to acknowledge Mrs Joan Burns, the inaugural BCC chair, for both her leadership and for her active engagement throughout the preparation of the Plan. Joan has agreed to continue to serve on the BCC."

"I'm looking forward to working with the new committee members. These are people who bring with them a wealth of local knowledge about water, irrigation and the environment and who I have no doubt will provide valuable ongoing input to the implementation activities," Mr Knowles said.

Long-term BCC member Rory Treweeke, from Lightning Ridge, will take on the role of committee chair. Mr Treweeke will contribute his broad experience in natural resource management leadership roles.
