The New South Wales Water Commissioner has announced that allocation for NSW Murray Valley general security licence holders would increase to 100 per cent of entitlement.

The mid-month water resource assessment has enabled an increase of 9 percent for NSW Murray general security licence holders, which under the transitional drought arrangements, means that they now have equivalent to 33 percent and as average carry-over was 67 percent of entitlement, the water available in all accounts automatically jumps to 100 percent.

““The mid September release of the NSW component of the Barmah-Millewa environmental water account has freed up airspace in Hume dam, allowing new inflow to be stored,” Commissioner David Hariss said.

“In the Murrumbidgee Valley, the general security allocation has increased by 4 percent to 69 percent of entitlement. This combined with carry-over gives the average Murrumbidgee general security water user access to an equivalent of 96 percent of entitlement.”

“It is highly likely that the allocation for general security licence holders in the Murrumbidgee Valley would also reach 100 percent of entitlement in the coming weeks.”
