The New South Wales Independent Pricing and Regulatory Tribunal (IPART) has called for submissions to its review of the operating licence for the Hunter Water Corporation.

Hunter Water’s operating licence, which entitles Hunter Water to provide and maintain water, sewage and wastewater disposal services in the Hunter Valley, expires on 30 June 2012, and must be reviewed before a further five-year operating licence is granted.

The IPART review will consider whether to maintain or amend the terms of the licence to improve Hunter Water’s operational efficiency and regulation. It will determine whether the Licence is fulfilling its objectives, the relevance of Licence terms in light of the Water Industry Competition Act 2006 and any other relevant legislation and the terms of renewal of the Licence.

A discussion paper for submissions to the review is at http://www.ipart.nsw.gov.au. Submissions are due by 31 May.
