The South Australian Government has announced that Housing SA tenants will receive a rebate of up to $75 credited to their account to ease the cost of living.

Social Housing Minister, Tony Piccolo, said that tenants will begin to see the credit to their account in the coming weeks.

“Reducing the cost of living, especially utility prices, is a priority for the South Australian Government,” Mr Piccolo said.

“The cost of water in South Australia has increased in recent years due to the development of infrastructure to ensure our future water supply.

“To help offset this, the Government is providing the one-off rebate to all South Australian households that are charged for water.

“The rebate will assist households with the cost of water with Housing SA responsible for its distribution to its tenants.”

All Housing SA tenants living in a Housing SA property on 1 January 2013, responsible for paying for water before 30 June 2013, will be eligible for the rebate.

Tenants will receive a $45 rebate if the household used up to 120kl of water in 2012 and $75 if they used more than 120kl.
