The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission is calling for community opinion on a pricing proposal for bulk water supply in the New South Wales Murray-Darling Basin.

The consumer watchdog said in a statement this week that it is required to consider the proposal by the State Water Corporation and approve or determine its regulated charges for three years from July 1 next year.

Included in the proposal are State Water's future prices for bulk water - supplied to around 6,200 customers including farms and irrigation corporations - and planned operating and capital expenditure from 2014 to 2017.

ACCC Commissioner Joe Dimasi said; “This is the first time the ACCC has regulated State Water’s prices so we encourage customers of State Water to tell us their views on the proposal.”

More information on the proposal and process is available from State Water.
