AquaSure has agreed to the release of the forecast yearly payments beginning in 2012/13 for the desalination plant.

The table of payments, as per the contract has been provided by PricewaterhouseCoopers, reveals that the desalination plant could cost the state more than $23 billion over the next 30 years.

Under the contract signed by former Water Minister Tim Holding, the forecast annual payment for 2012/13 is $654 million.

The former Labor Government arranged that this cost will be passed on in full to Melbourne Water, which will in turn pass on the costs to customers.

The table of payments is available here.
