The Murray-Darling Basin Authority has announced the release of up to 110 gigalitres under the Living Murray program over the next few months to benefit specific, iconic sites along the system.
"The watering will also provide benefits for the whole river system by building on the positive environmental outcomes from high flows in the Murray River," said MDBA Chief Executive Dr Rhondda Dickson.
The program will contribute 80 GL for the Barmah-Milewa Forest icon site following last year’s successful bird breeding period and will add to the environmental flow provided by the NSW and Victorian state government contributions.
