Technical Adviser - Water Quality

What you’ll do: 

  1. Analyse and interpret data, scientific literature and research findings to report on water quality. Provide sound advice on water quality issues, both current and emerging.
  2. Support the implementation and management of holistic strategic priorities to protect water quality for the range of publish health, environmental, cultural and recreational values.
  3. Prepare technical reports, presentations and supporting documentation for the management of drinking water quality, from catchment to customer.
  4. Undertake risk assessments, monitoring and evaluation to identify hazards, issues and/or solutions to mitigate water quality risks. Undertake risk reviews to support water quality management for the implementation of relevant Water Quality Management Systems or Quality Assurance Plans
  5. Monitor developments in water quality, research and innovation, emerging risks and industry trends to identify improvements and opportunities for WaterNSW.

What we are looking for:  

  • Tertiary qualifications in an environmental related discipline (science, engineering, planning, management, ecology, sustainability).
  • Specialised knowledge in one or more of the nominated fields:
    • Drinking water quality management principles and guidelines
    • Aquatic ecosystems
    • Catchment and riverine hydrology or hydrogeology
  • Highly developed written and verbal communication and presentation skills.
  • Well-developed understanding of water quality hazard assessment and risk mitigation.
  • Demonstrated experience in water resource and/or catchment management, with an emphasis on water quality.
  • Demonstrated experience in stakeholder engagement to drive improved outcomes.
  • Experience in analysing and reporting on complex data sets.
